According to the Princeton Review, Vassar ranks 10th in the nation in the "Students ignore God on a regular basis" category. Sam Speers, director of the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, doesn't see it quite that way. "There's been a lot of discussion about the decline of religion in higher education, but I'm more interested in looking at how it's changed," says Speers. "It's not so much that it's declined as that it's radically transformed. Spirituality is finding its way into parts of campus life that people never imagined—whether it's yoga in the gym, or dealing with questions of burnout at the counseling center, or volunteering at the Lunch Box in Poughkeepsie." more...
